T. Haleem Abdul-Rahman has been a mentor in the Baltimore City Public School system for ten years.  During this time, he started an after-school program to tutor youth and provide homework assistance.  Many of the students he dealt with were diagnosed with learning disabilities.  Later, he learned that many of the problems the children were having (inability to focus on schoolwork, lack of comprehension and retention of learned material, lack of discipline in the classroom, poor social skills and inability to get along with others) were associated with having lead and other metal contaminants in their bodies.
